Shepway Volunteer Centre has been running since 1976, is a registered charity, unconnected to any statutory body, and is governed by a Constitution. Overall responsibility for the work of the organisation rests with a Management Committee, comprised of volunteers with a wide range of experience in many different fields (e.g. business, finance, civil service, media) as well as representatives from service user groups and volunteers from the Centre’s direct services. The Management Committee meets 4 times a year, with a finance sub-committee meeting on a more regular basis.
Based at Folkestone, in the United Reformed Church, Castle Hill Avenue, it also has a regular Outreach service in the rural parts of the District, with a mobile office making regular trips to outlying areas and attending major public events.
