Elbow Grease

General information

Elbow Grease Co-operative Ltd is a non-for profit organisation comprising of a group of adults with learning disabilities supported by two paid members of staff and a small team of volunteers, we are also supported by a local care company, North London Homecare Support Ltd. who have offices in Harlow and Enfield.

Elbow Grease originated from the development of an earlier iniative called CARS (Community Access Respite Support). Members involved themselves in helping others and raising money for other local community projects. Following consultation with our members, it was identified that the members gained personally from this active involvement and members advised that they enjoyed the meaningful occupation involved, and to sustain the idea of this, Elbow Grease was evolved.

The ethos of the group is to give its members new experiences and support them to value others needs as well as their own. Encouragement has been given to support the Members to make self governing decisions at a pace that maintains effective organisations and consistency. We feel that Elbow Grease can make a valuable contribution towards the ethos f the Big Society.
