Welcome to Loxdale English Centre Facebook page!

We were established as the Swedish Folk High School in 1968 and were based in Palmeira Square, Hove, Brighton until we moved to our current site in Portslade, Brighton in 1979. To start with we only had students from Scandinavia and we started taking international students from all over the world in 2007. It's great to see so many different cultures at the school now.

We regularly have past students pop in and see us which is fabulous as it really shows how fondly people think of their time at Loxdale English Centre. We really enjoy hearing about what they are doing now and to catch.

For those of you who don't know us:

Loxdale English Centre is a language school that offers you something a little bit different. We teach English but we offer much more than that. Most students study on our English Plus course. This gives students the chance try studying a different subject such as singing, creative English, photography, British history, British culture, literature, drama etc. in English. We have put together a teaching programme that offers our students choice! Within the course you get to choose an element of your course to fit in with your interests.

We personalise the course through tutorials, English through subjects, English Plus subjects and guided self study sessions. All of this helps to motivate our students and gives them a really interesting English course with much more than just English.

As you can see from some of the photos, Loxdale is housed in a large Victorian mansion and is surrounded by gardens and trees. It is a beautiful environment which is only a 10 minute walk from the stunning Sussex Downs (a National Park) and a 20 minute bus journey to the centre of Brighton. Loxdale English Centre is in Portslade which is a residential suburb of Brighton & Hove.
