Singing Tree Kindergarten

General information

The Singing Tree kindergarten welcomes children aged 2 years 10 months to 6 years old. We offer Monday to Thursday mornings in Falmer until 1pm and forest Day on Fridays in Stanmer Park. There is a Monday afternoon available until 3 at the kindergarten in Falmer. Should you need more childcare, daily afternoon sessions are also available at Brighton Steiner School until from 1-5:40 pm.

Singing Tree children have regular walks past the pond, with all its wildlife, then through the fields and farm. Each day we have time for imaginative free play and activities such as: watercolour painting, crafts, eurythmy, gardening and baking bread.

The weekly Forest Day is a wonderful outdoor morning and runs right through the year. The children love playing outdoors and it offers a healthy balance to modern life to have a whole morning enjoying adventure walks, games, play, crafts and eating outside. We cook our soup over an open fire.

Our range of open ended play equipment are made from natural materials, largely wood, cloth and things found in nature such as pine cones. These things allow the children to embrace their imagination and creative thinking skills. A cotton veil can be a dressing up cloak, a wall of a house made from play frames, a dress, a swaddle for a doll and so on. Each day has a rhythm incorporating adult led time, snack time and free play. We also have an outdoor time each day with a walk through the village and/or outdoor play.

Our approach helps the older children to nurture the younger ones, help them get dressed, if needed, develop a sense of responsibility and emotional intelligence. The setting at Falmer is beautiful and well worth a visit to an open morning to see us for yourself.
