St Anne's-on-the-Sea Town Council

St Anne's-on-the-Sea Town Council Company Information
General information
The St Anne’s on the Sea Parish Council was formed in the 26 May elections that same year. Cllr Barbara Mackenzie was elected chairman at the council’s first meeting on 7 June.
Seven councillors were elected, five of whom had been members of the steering group that worked to make it all possible. It took two years to make it happen after St Anne’s residents overwhelmingly asked, following a public meeting, for the town to have a voice.
A steering group was set up. This group secured a grant from Awards for All and organised a series of seminars about all aspects of local government. These were free and open to the public and an average of 25 people attended each session.
Following the creation of the parish, a small celebration was held on 2 April in the Square with an orchestra playing. The then Fylde Borough Chief Executive, Ken Lee, read the official declaration of the forming of the parish of St. Anne’s on the Sea and the then Fylde Mayor Cllr Trevor Fiddler handed over the parish charter.
Councillors voted to change the name of the council to St. Anne’s on the Sea Town Council at their meeting on 31 January 2006. They voted to have a Town Mayor in 2008 and Cllr Barbara Mackenzie was elected to the position for the municipal year 2008/09.
The Town Council was awarded Quality Town Council status in 2011.
