Safer Safety Ltd was formed in 1985 by our MD who invented the world's first ever metal detectable earplug - “Detectaplug” - still widely used in the food industry today. This allowed noisy food processing factories to issue earplugs to their staff for the first time without fear of accidental product contamination; a big improvement for the workforce over the bulky earmuffs they had been using. Once patented, we started producing Detectaplugs in Chesterfield and began appointing distributors as the product became accepted.

We expanded rapidly during the 1990's but remained keen to discover unique products. We were the first company to introduce "Genuine" anti-slip footwear into the UK which took the market by storm & since 2004 we have helped to develop a top quality range of anti-slip footwear branded Keuka Suregrip. This brand was recently acquired by the US retail giant Genesco Inc. from Nashville who promptly embarked on a major investment programme resulting in an exciting new range of the most innovative footwear the market has ever seen. Combined with our cutting edge anti-slip technology, we believe we now have the best range of anti-slip footwear in the UK today.

Our new range, now simply branded as Suregrip™ Footwear, has the most slip resistant sole on the market as proven by various independent test houses. Slips, trips & falls account for over one third of all accidents and often up to half of reportable accidents within the food and catering industry. Suregrip Footwear helps reduce if not eliminate this problem in an instant. We are pleased to be the exclusive importer of Suregrip Footwear servicing an expanding network of distributors along with major retailers and end users. Working closely with our American partners we aim to bring you the very best anti-slip footwear that simply "works when you do!"
