Our award winning holiday apartments (The Guardian Newspaper) are on the island of Heybeliada, one of the Prince's Islands, just 30 miles off the coast of Istanbul. Off the beaten track, it was recently named by The Observer as one of the worlds 'undiscovered island gems'. A world apart from the hustle and bustle of central istanbul located only 35/45 minutes away by ferry. Horse drawn carts and bikes are the only mode of transport to explore the island, and private beach 'clubs'. You can take a private boat around the archipelago of 12 small islands, as well as ferry's every 15 minutes to the other larger Prince's Islands, and of course travel back to the fantastic vibrant chaos of Istanbul with ferry's going every 30 minutes. The Karamanyan is a 200 yr old Ottoman timber mansion renovated and restored to a stunning and stylish island retreat. Retaining all its original features the 15ft high wooden carved ceilings, and the incredible spiral staircase that leads to the top of the house are truly beautiful. The house was once the dormitory for the Turkish monks who attended the nearly monastery some 900 years ago, you can take in the magnificent view of this from the penthouse balcony.
