About us

Established over 20 years ago, Broadlands is a non-profit making pre-school situated in Leckhampton, Cheltenham. Families and staff work together to provide a stimulating, safe and fun learning environment for 1 to 5 year olds. Our purpose-built premises are situated at the edge of Burrows Field with glorious views of Leckhampton Hill.

Quality care

The children are cared for by members of staff that are qualified in childcare, first aid and child protection, with many years of experience. Broadlands has been awarded the Bristol Standard for May 2013 – 2014. We have been following the well-respected Bristol Standard quality improvement programme since 2012; we are now continuing into the second year of self-evaluation and reflection on this programme. Broadlands was awarded a ‘good’ rating by Ofsted after an inspection in February 2013.

Community links

Broadlands has strong links with the local community, including the local primary schools, and holds fun family events throughout the year. We also hire out our building and garden for parties, after-school and holiday clubs.

How the sessions work

The sessions at Broadlands are split by age into three groups, offering age appropriate activities for the children:

Rising twos: children are eligible to start rising twos in the academic year that they turn two and parents stay and enjoy the session with their child.

Rising threes: children move to rising threes in the academic year that they turn three. They are involved in a mixture of child-led play as well as structured activities with set learning goals.

Pre-school: children move to pre-school in the academic year that they turn four. We aim to help them improve their independence, confidence and interest in learning in order to prepare them for the transition to school.

Tuesday 1.45pm – 3.15pm

Rising threes
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 12.30pm – 3.30pm

Pre-school
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.00am – 12.00pm
Tuesday 9.00am – 1.30pm
Friday 9.00am – 2.00pm
