General information
Following a couple of public meetings a consortium of local community groups, headed by the Whitstable & District Chamber of Commerce, The Whitstable Society, The WHIT, The Friends of Whitstable Museum, Whitstable Historical Society, The Favourite Trust and the Crab & Winkle Trust have joined forces to look at the feasibility of managing the Whitstable Museum on behalf of Canterbury City Council.
An Expression of Interest was submitted and accepted by CCC earlier this year (2014). The group are now in the process of creating a new CIO trust and working on a business plan to support a bid, which provided long term viability can be established, will be submitted later this year.
The Museum will need to be run on a volunteer basis and the success of this project will be dependent on a great deal of public support.
