Alexander Scott founded his company in 1925, opening his shop in Aberdeen, Scotland. Advertising as a tailors & outfitters Alex Scott & Co specialised in both ladies and gents kilts which were hand tailored and fitted on the premises by master kiltmakers.
In 1928 a second clothing department was established specialising in uniforms for the Merchant Navy. In time Alex Scott & Co expanded to include tailored uniforms for groups such as boy scouts and girl guides and ultimately bespoke school uniforms.
A move of premises in 1987 also changed the company focus to concentrate on Highland Wear. When this proved a huge success they expanded to include other Scottish clothing as well as gifts and souvenirs.
Today Alex Scott & Co is one of the oldest and most recognised retailers in Aberdeen. Like any continuously successful business they have adapted to change in both their product range and the technology used to bring it to the customer.
