The Red Hen Project

General information

We are a small charity working in five schools in a deprived area to the North of Cambridge, helping children and their families. We work in; Arbury Primary, The Grove, Kings Hedges, Orchard Park, and Shirley schools.

Our home/school workers addresses many issues including bullying, domestic violence, low self esteem, family break-ups and the sickness illness or pending death of a parent. They work with the children in school and the family at home.

They have contact with other agencies such as Social Services and Health visitors, those that provide out of school activities and other charities such as food banks to make sure that they receive all the help available to them.

Often, home is disorganized and parents find it difficult to get the children to school. We provide breakfast clubs in two of the schools and workers can pick up children from home and take them to breakfast club so that, not only do they get to school on time but they have a good breakfast too.
