General information

My name is Nicholas Creative Director of BLUK Ltd.

I am from Birmingham, UK. After working for a major high street bank for 8 years and 2 years as a Mortgage Advisor I observed firsthand the economic issues that the black community face within the UK.

After completing further research I noticed that we, the African and Caribbean Community are facing the same problems globally.

I resigned from my job in 2015 in order to create BLUK Ltd which is focused on improving our economic issues. Historically the African Caribbean Community have not always supported black owned businesses, as a result there are few black owned businesses to now support.

Other communities spend and circulate the income they make within their own community, 4 to 10 times before they spend it outside of their community, while the black community immediately spends their money with other communities.

There has also been a myth of poor service and high prices when purchasing from our community which, can deter many from supporting their own community, our aim is to dispel this.

This website has been created to help showcase the brilliance our community has to offer, to change attitudes and therefore break the cycles of not supporting the African and Caribbean Businesses.

Many in our community want to spend their income within the local community, but do not know where these businesses are located or how to make contact; BLUK aims to provide this service and assist in making a significant change to the platform of Black Businesses.

BLUK’s long term objectives are to provide services that help African and Caribbean Community needs globally, from Crisis Response to Business Advice and Apprenticeships.
