Michael Blanning Trust Housing Association

General information

The Michael Blanning Trust was set up by Mr and Mrs Reginald Blanning as a charitable trust in 1973 in memory of their son Michael who had been killed in a tragic motor accident in 1968.
Its principal aim is to provide accommodation for retired people. In 1986 the Trust funded the development of the second stage of housing for the elderly in Moseley Birmingham consisting of 20 flats and which was carried out by the Bromford Warden Housing Association.
Two of the founder members of the Bromford Warden Housing Association, Keith James and Robert Oulsnam also founder members of the Michael Blanning Trust and the second stage of this development was called Michael Blanning House. The Bromford Warding Housing Association had already completed the first stage of this development in Moseley building 32 flats which was called Bromford Park House.
Included in this development were a communal lounge kitchen and laundry facilities and an office so that part-time scheme manager was available during the day to look after residents. A call system is available out of office hours.
The board of the Michael Blanning Trust Housing Association has brought together over a long period of time a blend of professional skill, experience, enterprise and prudence to the task of building retirement homes. The Association is concerned with the housing of the elderly in a caring and secure environment whilst providing homes of quality that are to be proud of and with high standards of management. Previously the Association has provided retirement accommodation under the Government Scheme for Warden Housing but looking to the future the Association intend to provide extra care accommodation with the far higher standards that will impose.
