A warm welcome awaits you at The Old Post Office; luxurious rooms, comfort and delicious food in a charming characterful bed & breakfast. Although situated in rural Co Durham, Lanchester is a ‘picturesque working village’ with many local amenities and restaurants. An experience with unusual hosts with real food flair and backgrounds focused on making your stay pleasurable, knowledgeable and healthy.
The Old Post Office has 3 lovely individually designed en suite bedrooms. There are plenty of books, maps and local tourist information for you to browse through and Keith and Pauline are very happy to help you plan your day to make the most of your time in Co Durham.
Throughout the house there are beautiful textiles, a mixture of antique and contemporary furnishings and original artworks.

A good wholesome breakfast sets you up for the day, we offer traditional fare with sausages made and sourced from our local butcher, our own eggs from the ‘girls’ at the bottom of the garden and honey from our own bees. We offer some other options for all preferred culinary needs.

Guests have their own lounge (also the reception area) where they can take their time, have a drink and relax with plenty reading materials and a broad selection of board games.

All 3 bedrooms have large comfy beds with crisp white Egyptian cotton linen, feather & down pillows and duvets.

Each room is equipped with a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi internet access, radio alarm, hairdryer and Senseo coffee maker, ground coffee cafetiere and tea tray with sugar and fresh milk.The luxury bathrooms have large fluffy towels, waffle bath robes and organic toiletries.

Pricing Details

The Penny Red room, with four poster bed and garden views, is currently £90 per night for 2 people sharing, £75 for 1 person.

The Penny Black room is currently £85 per night for 2 people sharing, £70 for 1 person.

All prices include full breakfast.

Two Pence Blue room - family sized bedroom with en suite - this will be £140 per night for 3 people sharing, £85 per night for 2 people sharing, and £70 for 1 person. There will also be a cot option for this room at no extra charge. Children under 5 will not be included in the pricing range above.
