General information

Reiki is a simple Japanese system, which works with energy. The technique was originally used in the early 1900s for self-development and self-healing. However, since the 1970s, when Reiki was first taught in the West, it has been viewed more as a treatment method, to be administered to others and is now seen by many as a complementary therapy - much like Aromatherapy and Reflexology. Although there is a spiritual quality to Reiki, it is not a religion and you don't have to believe in anything in order to benefit from it. Reiki is an energy therapy and is usually carried out by the practitioner laying their hands on and above the client in a number of different positions. A treatment usually lasts an hour and can leave you feeling relaxed, rebalanced and restored.
