General information
Colchester Shotokan Karate Club was formed in 1983 and is one of the longest-standing clubs in the area. As our name suggests, the style of karate we practice is called Shotokan, which is the most widely practiced style of karate worldwide. We are affiliated to the Toyakwai Karate Association and the English Karate Federation.
The Club is run by experienced by CRB checked 4th and 3rd Dan instructors.
We are privileged to have regular visits from Sensei ODYSSEAS CHRISTOU [TONE] who is a 6th Dan from the Traditional Shotokan Schools Of Karate, (T.S.S.K.).
Whilst we are a family oriented club, and have many parents and children training alongside each other, we consider the standard of karate we practice to be high, evidenced by the track record of our members in Black Belt gradings and in competitions.
We are a not-for-profit club, any income received remains within the Club for the benefit of its members, including the provision of subsidised courses with guest Instructors. None of our instructors take any payment from the club.
As a family orientated club, we welcome adults and children (from 6 years of age).
