General information

Vicky Carter established her first business in 1976 and sold it 4 years later. She trained in Remedial Therapy and completed two Business Management courses at Manchester Business School before establishing Lee Carter Health Studio in 1983.
One of the first Health Clubs in Lancashire..and a first for Ribble Valley! Lee Carter grew in membership and thrived successfully for 28 years, before the move, late last year, to new premises and a new identity as Carter Leisure Club.

In 1996 Vicky received personal recognition for her hard work and won Granada Television’s 'Business Personality of the Year award. Lee Carter was one of the top five Investors in People companies in 2002 and was shortlisted in the Best Health Club in the UK competition in 2010.

A business woman with a strong social conscience, Vicky has initiated, spearheaded and supported numerous fundraising and charity activities over the years.
One of her earliest events was completing the hottest London marathon on record, dressed as a daffodil, for Marie Curie cancer care.

In a mammoth project which raised £100,000 in just 3 years for Unicef’s Cold Chain Project, Vicky was one of the five local women who worked so energetically to achieve their target.
Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002: Vicky was selected to staff, set up and run the Commonwealth gym for the duration of the Games, providing training facilities for competing athletes from Northern Ireland to Namibia.

In 2011 Vicky cycled 450km through Beijing to the Chinese Wall to raise money for Professor Lord Winston’s charities Women for Women and the Trust for the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
And now in its exciting new identity, Carter Leisure Club has been created from an 8,000 square foot purpose-built, former health club premises. Vicky and her team have completely renovated and created a high quality, beautiful, professional and very friendly Health Club which will go from 'strength to strength' and Lead the Way in Fitness in the Ribble Valley.
