Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy

The BTE Academy is a University Technical College co-sponsored by the employers Airbus, GKN Aerospace, The University of the West of England and by City of Bristol College.

UTCs are an entirely new concept in Education. UTCs offer 14-19 year olds a course of full-time study that is very technically orientated and designed to focus on developing well-trained and highly skilled young people who will be well equipped to take a career, before or after university, in engineering or environmental technology sectors.

This means that, alongside the core GCSE subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, there is a project –based approach to give a practical context to theoretical learning. It will encourage vital skills for the world of work, while engaging and enticing learners in their studies. The UTC ethos and curriculum is heavily influenced by employers (both local and national) who also participate in the delivery and in providing work experience for the students to give an insight into the industries connected to the UTC. The UTC is sponsored by a university, employer and college and is equipped to the highest modern standards.
