Cherry Orchards Camphill Community

General information

We are an Intentional Community set in twenty acres of beautiful and productive gardens, fields and woodland in the north of Bristol, in the United Kingdom.

Our life is inspired and founded on the principles set out by the Austrian philosopher, scientist and social reformer Rudolph Steiner [1861–1925], and further elaborated by Dr Karl Koenig [1902–1966].

Inspired by Anthroposophy, we live together on a beautiful site within the boundaries of the City of Bristol, and we work in our garden producing food and flowers and we have a farm and woodland. We explore what it means to share resources and find new ways to relate to money which attempt to make it our servant not our master.

We dance and sing with and for each other, paint and sculpt, craft and cook and give rise to a cultural life to celebrate our humanness.

We welcome anyone wanting to set foot on a new path in life, we can offer support and participation in a communal life to those ready to work hard and who are prepared to take a risk to explore personal development in a social context.

Our charity’s purpose is, “for the public benefit, to relieve sickness, promote good health, provide care to and advance the education and training of: people with a disability (whether mental or physical), the young, the oldor people otherwise in needing accordance with the principles of Dr Rudolf Steiner particularly (without limitation) by the establishment and maintenance of communities …in which beneficiaries live and/or work and/or to which they otherwise resort, in community with persons providing support”.

Whilst having a Christian orientation, Cherry Orchards is open to people of all faiths and none and strives to live the values of diversity, tolerance and inclusion. We welcome anyone wanting to set foot on a new path in life and ready to work hard to explore personal development in a communal context.
