Dj Chris Tofu ( Vintage Remix Recs )

Chris Tofu , is a maverick Dj out of East London.

Dj’ing since 1995, from enormous stages to street corners, across the world. Started Dj’ing almost in reaction to the insanely obsessive DJ culture around early Techno and Drum and Bass,
He just felt that DJ’ing was as much about “vibe” and talking to an audience as endless technical skills. For Tofu if youre not “inside” the tune don’t play it.
Tofu has two lives, as a programmer of 1000s of bands and nights, some legendary clubs and festival stages and occasionally whole festivals, providing Tofu with the canvas to try all this crazy new remixed music’s, making people dance in front of the barrier to new and unusual sounds is the main Tofu goal .
Tofu has run and Dj’ed till the cows have literally come home at festivals like
Glastonbury (I run Shangri La, I programmed Lost Vagueness Music), Bestival, Big Chill, Sydney Festival, Boomtown, Lattitude, Lowlands , Wilderness, Shambala and Secret Garden etc
. We also started the first Electro Swing Club in the world and Electro Blues Club

THE VINTAGE REMIX

“Throughout my musical life I have in some way been pursuing a remix of ancient culture s and new styles”
Is simply for me anything remixed from the 1920s to the 1960s from dub to dub step.
Between 1920 - 1950, there were millions of releases worldwide; the whole history of modern music all gathering dust .
Tofu started the Electro Swing Club in London the worlds first club dedicated to these styles, whilst he is partner in White Mink a vast show mixing music with performance . Neither club has ever failed with years running in sold out gigs .
In 2015 Tofu and White Mink created Vintage Remix Records which is now a part of the Island Records. We haved the biggest tapestry of great music to find remixers for and more/
